Workout Routine For Women

by Caleb Lee on April 24, 2009

workout-routine-for-womenIs there a difference in way a workout routine for women should be designed?

Should they be doing something different in the way they train to …

  • Gain and strengthen lean muscle …
  • “Tone” that muscle up …
  • Burn away excess body fat …
  • Increase their cardiovacular endurance (both aerobic & anaerobic) …
  • And get their overall levels of health, strength, endurance and physical abilities up?

The short answer is …

NO!

Keep reading and I’ll tell you why …

(And I promise — if you’re a guy (or a sexually enlightened female) — this post is about to snap into “Awesome mode!”)

Physiology 101: We’re All The Same

When you come right down to it, we’re all humans, and we all share the same physiology. Except for a bit of a difference around the chest and between the legs, men are very close physically to women.

Of course women start off with a bit of a pre-disposition to be a little less “manly” than men… and this is ok … but my point is we’re all basically human so we all respond to about the same stimuluses.

Think of it this way:

The same martial arts moves that will take out a man, will also — just as easily — take out a woman because we all share the same basic physiology.

Yes, even kicking a woman “in the balls” will take her out (there’s still a spinal reflex attached to her pelvic area). And of course an eye jab to a woman will work the same as on a man, etc … Make sense?

So What’s The Problem?

Strength training and exercise workouts have been toned down and made “womanly” and this is a complete disservice to women everywhere!

They’re told they’re supposed to:

And what does this lead to? A lot of wasted time, frustration and overall suckiness!

What’s The Solution?

Train like a man! Better yet, train like a man athlete!

It really does work better, and I’ll give you a few examples.

First, check out this article on  What Women Should Do For Fast Weight Loss … you’ll see Rachel Crosgrove, when training for a marathon actually got fatter — even though she was doing WAY MORE cardio than she ever had before.

Then, in only 8 weeks she lost 15 pounds of flab once she started doing:

  1. Strength Training and…
  2. Interval Workouts for cardio (instead of being a treadmill bunny!)

Strength Training Makes Girls SEXY — NOT “Manly”!

I wish I could bludgen this myth into a bloody, unrecognizable mess because then there would be tons of girls with much better bodies … if they just weren’t afraid to do some heavy strength training!

Check out this girl learning the correct way to squat:

It is ONLY going to get sexier for her from now on!

Athletes ALWAYS Have The Best Physiques …

Why? Because their physiques are useful, and my theory is that we as a species evolved (as a mating mechanism) to recognize functionally athletic bodies on each other as good “breeding” signs … at least that’s the idea I just came up with as to why girls with functionally athletic bodies look sexy as all hell.

And it goes both ways (although I personally don’t!) because most girls will agree that the huge, “Gross bodybuilder” look is not as attractive as … say… David Beckham, world-famous soccer star?

I must be a genius. So start training like an athlete girl — and you’ll have a sexy body in NO time. Why?

  • Athletes usually strength train (bodyweight & free weights) …
  • There’s not a single sport out there that is aerobic in nature (unless it’s a marathon, the rest are ALL like hardcore interval training in nature) …
  • You’re constantly challenging your body with new movement patterns and changing intensity …

To prove my point, let’s look at the female member of the world famous Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gracie family:

gracie-girlAre you convinced yet?

Here, I know, how bout’ a sport I’m totally NOT familiar with in any way … just to prove my “athletes are sexy” idea … Pole-Vaulting!

So do you have to be a world-class athlete to be sexy? Nope. You just have to train like one.

As proof, next, we are going to examine …

Crossfit GIRLS!!!!

Sorry for the extra exclamation marks… but this is pretty fun because crossfit girls (in my mind at least) are like the perfect blend of sexy muscle (without being “gross”), low body fat and crazy tonage!

I submit the following pictures for your examination and agree-ance on this point:

So is there any doubt left in your mind that training like a man … like an athlete … and …

  • Doing REAL strength training, the classic exercises will tone you up and give you the lean muscle you want to keep you looking good and your metabolism humming  …
  • Doing Interval cardio will strip the fat off your body, leaving lean, sexy, feminine muscle behind …
  • Not being afraid of the “hard core” exercises like overhead presses, squats, cleans & jerks will get your whole body into “Hollywood shape” in record time …

Is there any doubt — in anyone’s mind — that the sexiest women are also the most athletic?

Is there any more doubt about what the best Workout Routine For Women is? I didn’t think so :)
