In our bodybuilding routines, we will at some time or another, hit what is referred to as a plateau.
(This is when you keep training, but as hard as you try, seem too make no progress.)
It can be really frustrating; I’ve been there myself and I know how discouraging this sometimes is. However, you can break past the plateaus and keep right on making progress towards your bodybuilding goals.
There is one common mistake people make when bodybuilding; it happens in any kind of fitness training really, but bodybuilders tend to notice the plateau phenomenon more so that for instance, tennis players.
What is this mistake I hear you asking…
Working out too often.
It’s as simple as that. I know I sound like a broken record, but your muscles have to recover between workouts if you want the mass.
When seeking to build muscle you want to work your muscles to exhaustion, but without overdoing it and straining yourself. In order to actually have that new muscle growth that a workout stimulates, you need to give your body a few days to do this. This is the number one thing you can do the overcome that bodybuilding plateau.
Switch you focus for a little while to keep getting gains
Anaerobic exercise is a good thing to concentrate on at this point in your routine. Your legs are the strongest part of your body. By concentrating on, for instance, leg presses, you will actually benefit your entire body and this will help you get past the stagnant plateau.
Get Some Extra “oomph!” In The Gym And Recover Quicker
I know I’m a lot more excited about working out when I have more energy, strength, and greater work capacity in the gym… and when I’m recovering faster outside of it.
Unfortunately, just counting on natural food sources isn’t always the best solution because our modern day food supplies are NOT what they used to be…
What to do?
I supplement to help my muscle building and fat loss efforts. In fact, I developed my own form of creatine that works 28.25% BETTER than regular creatine monohydrate. It’s called Fast Gains and if you’re serious about gaining muscle and enhancing your workouts I recommend you check it out today.
Last of all,
Don’t give up!
It’s a shame to see people who have worked so hard for something throw in the towel because they think they have come to an impasse.
While the human body does have its limits (although they are FAR, FAR higher than what most people realize), what you are probably experiencing is a plateau and you CAN get past it. Keep trying and try out my tips for getting past your plateaus (they’ve worked for me!). All the best of luck to you in meeting your fitness goals.

Caleb,
Awesome article. Just an awesome article. What I do so I won’t hit a plateau is i challenge myself by lifting heavier weights, maybe a couple of reps just to try it out and eventually i’d end up lifting those with increased reps until i get bored again and i have to increase my weights again.
Good job man
although i’ve not reached that plateau point yet as i’m still a nope , but thanks to u i now know what should i do when i reach it. thanks caleb.
