Yes! You're Right, I've Just Compared Myself To Franco!

So I tested my 1RM’s this week, for the first time in a LOOOONNNNGGG time … maybe ever?

Thing is, when you used to lift “stupid” or with bad technique … you think all your numbers are going to be higher … and maybe they could be–but it’s better to take the ego blow and just lift correctly (even if it’s a few pounds less on the scoreboard).

(Yes, I’m still WEAK on the bench)

I checked my weight after I pulled my last deadlift on Thursday:

Powerlifting Totals

  • Bodyweight: 138lbs
  • Squat: 335lbs
  • Bench: 185lbs
  • Deadlift: 400lbs
  • Total: 920

Crossfit Total

Just for shits and giggles, I wanted to see how my crossfit total measured up (even though I haven’t overhead pressed in at least 3 weeks–so I’m going by my old numbers):

Video Of 400lb Deadlift For The Haters :)

Here’s the video phone video a friend took while I deadlifted the 400lbs, notice the “Older Brother From Goonies” red headband (it gives you powah!)

Later ya’llz!

Holy crap – those are amazing numbers for someone under 140 lbs. You are seriously inspiring and should be an inspiration for all the smaller-sized guys out there. Wow.

@ Darrin: Thanks buddy — you’re making me blush though :) Gotta get those bench numbers up!

I don’t know man, that’s a big lift, but the form doesn’t look good. Your back is rounding pretty badly.

Numbers are amazing
except for shoulder press
in another article you said you were focusing on shoulders
so why is it so low?

@ Bill: yeah, I’m not sure it’s possible to pull with a fully arched back the whole way through when you approach triple bodyweight and above … Ed Coan’s 837-lb deadlift at the 1996s IPF Worlds — similar back angle — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMGnd2_CrD0 — even though you start in the right position and you keep the lower back as locked in as possible in the right position, but it seems like your upper back will start rounding anyways to shorten the distance, etc … still examining all this myself.

@ Andy: well, the 135lb’s isn’t a 1 rep max, I used to do 3 x 3 with that weight — so my 1RM is probably higher there … but like I said … I’ve been focusing on powerlifting stuff lately, so I’ve been benching with no overhead press work. That’s the answer.

It kinda makes me sick that you only give up 50 pounds from your powerlifting total to your “crossfag” total. You should work on that BENCH!!!

@ Jabba: Benching is for the birds … or … Hutts.
