A lot of people want to know about Muscle Building AND Fat Loss… and is it possible to do both. While I already answered this question before… I think it’s worth talking a little about focus right now.
Easy = 1 Goal
The first thing to point out is that if you’re just focusing on one goal at a time, then it’s going to be a LOT easier to achieve that goal.
If you want to build muscle for instance… you just focus on working out a lot, getting out of the gym and eating a crapload of food.
When you add fat loss into the equation — you have to worry about what you’re eating, how much, etc… so it takes your focus away from the first goal.
2 Goals Divides Your Focus
So it’s easier to focus on one goal, you see…
A recent study on people multi-tasking at work found that multi-tasking on just two projects at the same time decreased a person’s IQ level by the same amount as a hit of marijuana.
What can you learn from this?
Fastest Goal Achievement = One Goal At A Time
If you’re concerned about SPEED of achieving your goals, it’s going to be best to focus on one goal or the other right now. Find out what you want to do first.
For most guys they want to build muscle first. So build muscle first, then focus on getting more “cut up” at a later date.
Just don’t make it harder for yourself by eating tons of frozen twinkies, oreos and lots of crap food — keep your future goals in mind as well — but focus mostly on the present goal of building muscle.
Long Term Goal? Focus On Both
If you’re not really worried about when you achieve your goals (although I’d guess sooner than later) then it’s ok to have 2 or 3 simultaneous goals — you’ll do fine.
It’s just the point of this article, because I get this question a lot, is that it’s easier to do one goal at a time, instead of focusing on both muscle building and fat loss. Hope it helps
