How To Lose 2 Inches Off Your Waist Without Diet Or Exercise

by Caleb Lee on September 22, 2008

Read this quick article now to discover how to slim your waist 2 inches without diet or exercise!

If you would like to lose up to 2 inches off your waist… without dieting and without any real “exercise”… then this article will show you how.

Most people know they have stomach muscles or “abs”, but very few people know that there are deep, deep stomach muscles.

These deep stomach muscles are responsible for keeping your stomach “in”, stabilizing your spine, protecting your internal organs and important things like that.

The bad news? If your gut looks like it sticks out, they’re probably weak. But the good news is you can train them to work better, get stronger, and make your midsection tighter… and when you do this you can actually…

Lose 2 to 3 Inches Off Your Waist In Just Weeks!

Most people see results with this exercise in just 2-3 weeks… that’s less than a month :)

So what is this magical exercise? It’s a certain type of breathing actually, it’s called a “stomach vacuum”.

Here’s how to do it:

  • Stand up, feet shoulder width apart…
  • Inhale deeply through your nose, breathing the air first into your belly, then your chest, filling your lungs completely…
  • Exhale forcefully out your mouth as you simultaneously bend over at the hips…
  • Continuing exhaling until you completely empty your lungs…
  • Use your ab muscles to suck in your stomach as deeply as possible. Try to touch your navel to your spine…
  • And HOLD it there for 5 seconds before letting your stomach back out and refilling your lungs…
  • That’s one rep…

Perform this exercise for 3 sets of 5 reps 3 times per week and work up to doing them every day. At this point you may be thinking…

Can A Simple Breathing Exercise Really Shrink Your Waist?

The answer is “YES!”

Old-school bodybuilders always did this exercise because they knew it helped them shrink the actual size of their waist giving them a nice “V-shaped” figure and making their upper body look larger.

Below is a picture of Frank Zane performing a stomach vacuum:

Now, compare that picture to the one below of a “modern day” bodybuilder who obviously doesn’t perform stomach vacuums. See how he has that protruding belly look? His abs actually stick out and even though he’s very lean, it almost looks like he has a fat gut:

I know you don’t want your waist to look like that — so start doing your stomach vacuums and start shrinking your waist!

Come on. We need to be realistic here! The “modern bodybuilder’s” gut is due to steroid use rather than to neglecting his vacuums!

Caleb Lee September 22, 2008 at 12:04 pm

I definitely wouldn’t argue that point buddy–however, almost all “modern” trainees have the “big gut” look. And this exercise can go a long way towards preventing it

This is a great tip. I’m no bodybuilder but I’ve always wondered about the dynamics behind flattening out the bulge. I sent it to an Indian friend and he wrote me a long, feverish response extolling the virtues of breathing exercises. Of course, Indians have made an entire science out of breathing and this tip kind of “set him off”.

@ Hidflect: cool man– deep breathing rocks.

If I do the stomach vacuum while sitting, will that have the same effect?

Angel Brott November 26, 2009 at 11:25 pm

What if I did the stomach vacuum laying down? Would that work or no?

Caleb Lee November 29, 2009 at 3:33 pm

@ angel: yeah that helps too. Do them both if you like.

Becks November 29, 2009 at 9:50 pm

Can you post some pictures of some of the actual people that work out this way and/or the results? (if any)

Caleb Lee December 4, 2009 at 10:58 am

@ Becks: no, but you can, here’s how:

– take a pic of yourself now
– follow the articles advice for a month or two
– take another picture
– send me the pic and I’ll gladly put it up :)

Worst case scenario: do you really think you’re going to be “worse” off after the two months? Why the hesitation? Try it and even if you don’t get the best most “life changing” results in the world — you’ll still be better off than you are now!

hey caleb!! great article! what i wanted to know was does it help reduce the sides of the waist not just the belly? am a lady with slim hips so getting the v-shaped look is not an option, so can this get the nipped in waist look?

Caleb_Lee September 4, 2010 at 11:53 pm

It'll definitely help. Not sure how much it'll take off the sides, but this combined with healthy eating + exercise will do great.

Adina September 8, 2010 at 11:56 pm

ooh cool!! already started after reading this post, can you recommend any good exercise for nipping the waist? am actually small waisted just want to get 2 inches off, something without equipments would be ideal!!! Thank You!!!!!!

Caleb_Lee September 20, 2010 at 3:36 pm

Just eat less and move more … weight loss happens everywhere, not much you can do to "spot reduce"
