Dr. Al Sears, Leading Anti-Aging and Weight Loss Expert.
Today, I got a special little message from one of my favorite M.D.’s out there … Dr. Al Sears!
This is one of the many reasons why I’m mainly a “low carb” guy during the week. The snippet starts next:
Carbs Can Cause Cancer
The other night, my son Dylan and I were in line at the grocery checkout, and I couldn’t help but notice the woman in front of me.
As she unloaded potato chips, pastries, waffles, and pasta onto the conveyor belt, I wondered if she understood the risks she was taking. If she knew empty carbs were linked to breast cancer would she still buy them?
Sugar feeds cancer cells … and makes them grow like wildfire. Cancer loves sugar.
And carbs turn into sugar in your body.
A 2004 study in Cancer Epidemiology followed the eating habits of a large group of women in Mexico. The risk of breast cancer was found to be 220% higher in the women who ate the largest amounts of carbohydrates compared to the women who ate the least carbs.1
And just a few weeks ago, a new study confirmed it.
Researchers in Stockholm analyzed data from women who completed “food frequency” questionnaires in the late 1980s. They discovered that women who ate high glycemic load foods were more likely to develop breast cancer.
They also found that carbohydrate intake, glycemic index and glycemic load were all associated with a specific estrogen receptor type of tumor.2
And it’s not just women who need to be concerned. There have also been links to carbohydrate consumption, especially high glycemic load foods, and colorectal cancer among men.3
The evidence that refined, processed, high glycemic foods are bad for you is overwhelming. And when it comes to cancer, sugar is the worst.
So when you go to the store, make sure to pass up on the sugar. Plus, you’ll want to avoid …
- Grains, including corn
- Potatoes and other white foods, like white rice, sugar and salt.
- Processed foods
- Drinks and foods that contain high fructose corn syrup

Don’t Forget It’s Not Just Cancer!
Ok Back to me now …
Remember, it’s not just cancer that processed, refined, high-gylcemic carbs put you more at risk for, it’s also …
- Obesity – as if it wasn’t obvious …
- Stomach fat — which is the deadliest kind …
- Diabetes – which is just as prevalent as obesity now …
So take the good Doc’s advice and stay away from the processed carbs as much as possible. Eat Meat. Eat Green Stuff. Eat Dairy Stuff. And try to eat it all in as close to the natural state as possible.

And everybody (smart) said, “AMEN!”
The problem is that meat can also cause cancer…

Life in general causes cancer. The book Beating Cancer with Nutrition (poorly written, but good info) notes that we all get cancer many times throughout our lives. Usually, our immune systems root it out and we carry on in blissful ignorance. It seems to me that our best option is to fuel our bodies with plenty of the cleanest vegetables, fruits, meats, and nuts possible, while keeping carb intake low by limiting or eliminating grains and nixing all processed foods and sugars. That way, we can identify and fight the mutant cells that are bound to occur.
@ Tamara: that sounds about right
naturally like your website but you need to check the spelling on quite a few of your posts. Many of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very bothersome to tell the truth nevertheless I’ll definitely come back again.
Yea I don't care about spelling.
