If you want to burn fat quickly, then you’ll want to pay attention to these tips because I’ll show you a couple different ways to burn more fat in a hurry.
First of all, it’s important to focus on fat burning and not “losing weight” because you can often lose or increase weight and it makes no difference as to how good you look in the mirror. So if you’re wanting to lose weight for “cosmetic” reasons, to look better, than you should use your mirror as the judge and NOT the weight scale.
Unless of course you’re an athlete and you need to lose weight for a specific weight class or something of that nature, then you need to pay more attention to the scale.
Don’t be afraid to Build Muscle
A lot of people (women especially) are worried about gaining muscle when they’re working out. Or people worry that they’ll increase their weight too much if they gain muscle… but this is a silly worry.
First, guys with lots of muscle, did NOT gain that muscle accidently. It took a lot of hard work and a LOT of eating — so you’re not going to turn into the hulk overnight by accident no matter what you do.
Plus, muscle actually burns a little bit more calories at rest and while you’re performing other activities, so it’s a better type of body tissue to have — as opposed to fat… not to mention all the hormonal reasons you want to have low body fat and higher amounts of lean muscle.
What’s more – if you keep up resistance training, you can SEVERELY limit your calorie intake each day and your body will hang on to lean muscle and burn fat instead…
So don’t be afraid to build muscle and get in the WEIGHT room! Do strength training, or at least start some type of resistance training, even if it’s with your own bodyweight.
Increase your cardio intensity
If you go to any commercial gym you’ll see the same people, day after day, on the treadmills and elliptical machines, pedaling away for hours and hours at a time.
And you’ll notice something else about these people… they’re not just the same people, they LOOK the same, year after year. Why? Because with standard steady state aerobics, your body adapts pretty well to it in about 8 weeks or so… and it becomes efficient at performing it without burning any extra body tissue (or fat in this case).
What to do? Add in interval training to increase your intensity. Also, bodyweight training done in a rapid manner, with little rest periods is a HELLUVA cardio workout. Kettlebell or barbell circuits are also great for increasing intensity. Try them all.
Try intermittent fasting.
I know you’ve heard you need to eat 4-6 times per day to increase your metabolism, stoke the “fat burning fire” and keep your metabolism from crashing and all that jazz… but it simply aint true.
In fact, you’ll burn more fat, and experience more hormonal, health and fitness benefits by fasting for a period of 16-20 hours each day… and reducing your meals down to 3, or even 1 in those 4-8 hours of eating periods.
This will automatically restrict your caloric intake for you, which will help you lose weight… and there are TONS of scientific studies showing the benefits of calorie restriction to increase lifespan.
I heard this story from a fitness guy once:
“A huge fat guy came to me and told me “no matter what I do I can’t seem to lose any weight” and then I asked him “how many times per day do you eat?” and he said “6 times per day” and I said “how many times per day do you crap?” and he said “once”. And I told him “reverse it!”"
Pretty good advice to burn fat quickly if you ask me
